Madeira, Gran Canaria, Fuerteventura,
Lanzarote
Madeira is at one hour flight from the Canary Islands and both archipelagoes have the same volcanic roots and, in general, a similar climate being bathed by trade winds. Nevertheless as in the island of Madeira and Great Canary the humid air is condensed and the forests of laurisilva extend by the North slopes of the islands, in Fuerteventura and Lanzarote the little height of the volcanoes does not allow that the clouds condense and thus the vegetation developed is the typical of one of more barren zones.
Their belonging to different countries, Spain and Portugal, has also differentiated Madeira from the Canary Islands in language, culture and habits.
The contrasts that will be observed throughout our treks will give us a complete vision of the way of living of their inhabitants besides of the climate, geology, flora and fauna of the Macaronesia. |
